The second half was helmed by GMX Trio, featuring Guy-Marc Vadeleux (GMX, piano) with Daniel Dantin (drums) and Jacobo Velez (clarinet and saxophone). Steeped in jazz with strong Caribbean influences, GMX has been hailed as one of the most talented pianists of the new music scene in Martinique and it showed from his very first notes. GMX held court over the full-house at Cool Cats, leading the audience with driving rhythms and alluring island vibes.
Funds raised during the concert went towards the The Steve McQueen’s year-end Asia tour.
To round up their first stop in Singapore, GMX Trio performed another concert to enthusiastic response the next day at LASALLE College of the Arts, which is also a valued institutional partner of The Foundation. The LASALLE Lunchtime Concert Series is a longstanding college initiative that aims to broaden the musical horizons of students at LASALLE, while providing professional opportunities for those in the audio production and film courses. The concert was live streamed on YouTube.
