Mark Chia, 12, is the second recipient of The Foundation’s Prodigy Fund. Now studying in Vienna, he is building an international career in music.

Mark Chia, 12, is the second recipient of The Foundation’s Prodigy Fund. A gifted young Singaporean violinist, he has demonstrated exceptional talent from an early age and is already building an impressive international profile.

Mark has received top honours at major international competitions, including First Prize at the Grunewald International Music Competition 2024 and Second Prize at the Il Piccolo Violino Magico International Competition 2022. He has also participated in masterclasses with leading violinists such as Professor Boris Kuschnir, Dmitry Sitkovetsky and Boris Garlitsky.

A dedicated musician with ambitions to become a world-class violinist, composer and conductor, Mark began learning the violin at the age of three under the instruction of Singaporean violinist Min Lee and began composing at the age of five.

To further his artistic development, Mark is based in Vienna, where he is undertaking long-term studies under Professor Boris Kuschnir at Kunstuniversität Graz while attending AMADEUS International School Vienna.

As the second recipient of the Prodigy Fund, Mark receives support from The Foundation to continue developing his craft and pursue a future on the international stage.
